The Formery is an interior design studio on the South Coast inspired by elemental nature. Rooted in natural form and textural richness we create sculptural, lived-in spaces that feel resolved yet raw - grounded by function yet shaped by earthly inspiration.

Inspired by the tactility of organic media like clay, grain, stone and sand, The Formery is the personification of grounded design, where spaces that are rich in texture, yet refined in form; borne through material honesty, quiet cadence, and architectural stillness. Owned by Jenna Brown, a creative with lived experience, The Formery was born from years of hands-on design though building, renovating and shaping commercial and residential spaces. Jenna believes that grounded design bares human, calm, connected space - and with that thought, she approaches each project as an opportunity to quiet the noise, honour natural material and create meaningful environments that hold life gently, without excess.

I've always been a contradiction - a nurse with paint-stained hands, a corpsman who enjoyed the fray of the bush yet delighted in carefully constructed interiors, a rigorously scientific mind who was easily lost in creative pursuits, a country girl who yearned for expanse, though sought-out city bustle and an old soul who relishes vintage though appreciates modernist form.
While I chose a path in health, my right brain never sat quietly. Interior design is not a career pivot, it is a quiet return and a passionate pursuit. From childhood I was always making - sewing, sketching, painting, crafting, rearranging, dressing-up. From early days visual merchandising in fashion, to now, as a dermal artisan and hobbyist floral sculptor I have found ways to feed the frustrated creative within. In my own personal builds and renovations I've crafted furniture, made "art" and embraced trade-skills because the alternatives have felt hollow or fiscally unattainable.
The Formery is where the intersections of my life collide - care, creation, materiality and nostalgia - a place where contradiction is not a flaw but a language.

Our offerings span from conceptual EMERGENCE and spatial PLANNING to CURATORSHIP, SOURCING, STYLING and bespoke CUSTOMISATION. The elements of our services are able to be individually purchased or combined into a COMPLETE, COMPREHENSIVE INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS, imbued with INTENTION where materials, mood and meaning are cultivated into TANGIBLE SPACES.
