A sanctuary in which to seek refuge from the bustle of every day life. A space in which modern comfort is blended with ancient practices, to offer a retreat where relaxation takes on a form of art. Offering head-spa, medifacials, body treatments and shirodhara alongside infrared therapy; Solace is a place of relaxation and supination.
Located in a studio cottage off Aescend Aesthetics, this commission emerged from the client's vision to branch into more traditional 'spa' like offerings. Housing an infrared sauna and head spa, the brief called for quiet sanctum - a space that felt protective yet freeing, restorative yet expressive. The aim was to reference the interior of Aescend Aesthetics, while creating a distinct premises that felt intimate and personal.
Like the first project, more was sought than just an interior. The clients were seeking to create a narrative, a place of harbour that breathed, objects that belonged and moments that felt transportive. Textures like matte plaster, stone veining, and hand cast clay and were chosen for their honesty and relationship with Aescend - while custom floral sculptures and gentle waves provided direct repetition. As seen in Aescend, sculptural, artisanal objects and organic fibres helped to create ambiance and imbue distinction while plush upholstery; clean lines and burnished fittings added elegance.
The Formery provided concept development, spatial planning, custom furnishings, material sourcing and styling though in unison a space was created that feels both sculpted and settled - modulated by rhythm, grounded in material and stilled by restraint.
